This year, students in The Calais School’s 12 Plus Program are taking advantage of an exciting new opportunity!
The Calais School, along with Hanover Park High School, has partnered with The Greater Morristown YMCA to help reinforce healthy habits and lifestyle choices. Both schools will be visiting the YMCA facilities twice a week throughout the school year free of charge. Students will have the opportunity to use the facilities independently and participate in fitness classes/activities.
The overall purpose of the partnership is to offer students a safe and healthy outlet for physical activity and working on social skills. Students have access to activities and equipment which includes: organized classes, a walking track, basketball court, outdoor fitness trail, free weights and gym. The partnership with YMCA also offers students the opportunity to partake in real life experiences that require the application of independent living skills such as: proper planning and preparation, appropriate self-conduct, managing work-life balance, personal growth and problem solving, and making healthy choices.
The Calais School is always looking for ways to enhance our programs. We are extremely excited about this new partnership with YMCA!
