So far the 2023-2024 school year has been full of exciting events and memories!
Back in October, we welcomed Calais families, faculty, staff, and friends at our second Annual Calais 5K- together, we raised $5,920, which helped support our therapy dogs and other therapeutic programs. Soon after, Calais students kicked off the holiday season with compassion and determination by collecting almost two tons of food donations for the 2nd Annual “Stuff the Bus” Food Drive. Grant funding allowed us to purchase grow towers for a school-wide sustainability project and upgrade the 12 Plus wing with adaptive furniture designed to meet the functional space needs of our growing program. Before leaving for winter break, we hit a high note with a heartwarming choir and band performance and a high-tech microbit zoo exhibit coded entirely by students.
Now that it’s January and we are settling back into our routines, we have so much to look forward to, including field trips, a Valentine’s Day dance, enriching class activities, and, of course, our Annual Chili Cook-Off! We ask that you please save the date for the Calais Foundation Annual Gala on April 24th at the Hanover Manor in East Hanover, NJ. Tickets go on sale later this year.
Finally, on behalf of the entire Calais Administration, I’d like to extend a special thanks to the families who stepped up this year and raised over $700 collectively through their personal Facebook Fundraisers during The Calais Foundation’s year-end appeal.
Thank you, as always, for your continued trust, confidence, and support. Let’s make 2024 the best year yet! Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year!
Theresa Fritzky, Calais School Principal
