This year the students in our Culinary program were very hands on in the preparation of our annual Thanksgiving Feast! Calais Vice Principal Mr. Sokolewicz and our in-house Dietician Ms. Walsh worked with our Upper School students to whip up all the traditional fixings. All day the delicious aroma of mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, sauteed greed beans, mac n’ cheese, gravy and turkey wafted throughout the school.
Our wonderful volunteers and maintenance staff worked really hard to transform Calais’ gymnasium into a festive Thanksgiving scene. The tables were dressed with table clothes and colorful floral arrangements made by the students in our CTE floral design program. The entire faculty, staff and all of our students came together to enjoy the celebration.
There were lots of smiles and empty stomachs eager to dive-in but before they could, our principal Dr. Manno and some of our students addressed the school with a few opening remarks. Their words reminded us about the true meaning of Thanksgiving and that we have a lot to be grateful for.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
