Families, case workers, school psychologists and social workers, who are interested in learning more about The Calais School, a state approved, private therapeutic special education school in Whippany, are invited to the school’s second virtual open house on Thursday, October 8 from 1-2:45 p.m.

The school serves students in grades K through 12 Plus with multiple learning disabilities as well as anxiety, mood, behavior, and autism spectrum disorders, said Calais Executive Director David Leitner.  Leitner said he was so pleased with the wonderful turnout Calais had for its first ever Calais School virtual open house in the spring, that he wanted to offer more virtual open houses.

The event will feature presentations by Director of Counseling Paul Vitaletti, who will talk about the psychological services provided, Guidance Counselor Michelle Primiano, who will highlight academics, including class offerings, electives, extra-curricular activities and transition services,  and Susan Greenbaum, an Animal Assisted Interventions handler, who will explain the school’s AAI program, unique to The Calais School, and introduce one of her dogs, said Director of Admissions Cheryl Porter-Avino.  To register for the open house, please click here.
