Healthy behaviors stick best when they are learned and enforced early in life.  As an institution of learning, the Calais School has a significant impact on the choices our students make when it comes to a lot of healthy behaviors.

Our efforts in educating students on healthy habits recently secured Calais a financial award of $850 and an A+ for promoting healthy lifestyle choices.

Assistant Principal Steve Sokolewicz played an integral part in Calais’s participation in the 2017 A+ Challenge: Actions for Healthy Schools. The school healthy challenge allowed Calais to share and learn about best practices and outcomes for health and wellness. The funds received will be used to further support school healthy activities for the students at Calais.

Sponsored by Atlantic Health System, the A+ Challenge was part of a broader school health initiative called Atlantic Healthy Schools. Atlantic Healthy Schools was created to address the multifaceted issues of school health. The goal of the program is to improve the health of all students by facilitating a collaboration between health care professionals and members of school communities.
