In an effort to promote a healthy lifestyle for our students, Calais ESY 2014 proudly presented an all-school assembly on nutrition.  Our friends at HealthBarn USA  visited The Calais School on Thursday and worked with our culinary arts students to prepare a healthy, refreshing salad for students and staff. HealthBarn USA helps children (and grown-ups!) learn how to grow their own fruits and veggies and make the best choice at the supermarket or in a restaurant. Their presentation showed students how to add a heaping, tasty scoop of fun to everyday meals by preparing fresh, feel-good, nutritious snacks and entrees.

At the conclusion of the interactive presentation, students and staff were treated to a healthy salad that refreshed and satisfied all!

For more than nine years, HealthBarn USA has helped kids learn healthy eating habits through classes and summer camps in Bergen and Westchester counties and from New York to California through their elementary and middle school “Try it, you’ll like it!” school assemblies. They have also helped raise nutrition literacy on the Rachael Ray Show, CNN’s House Call with Sanjay Gupta, and on networks such as PBS and Nickelodeon.

HealthBarnUSA is committed to helping families raise their nutrition literacy through hands-on learning about where food comes from, and why fresh tastes best, and why fresh fruits and vegetables are best for our bodies, minds, and souls.
