For everyone at the Calais School, Halloween is kind of a big deal…
Every year the ENTIRE school dresses up, even our principal, Dr. Manno. This year, our faculty and staff decided on an emoji costume theme, although typically some members go rogue. In fact, we had a majestic Unicorn sighting, Fred Flintstone made an appearance and it wouldn’t be Halloween without some witches – Glenda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West to be exact.
As for the students, aside from the awesome and creative costumes, there were lots of fun activities for them to celebrate with. Our High School and 8th grade students had a blast at our annual Halloween Dance. The class representatives did a great job planning, organizing and decorating the gymnasium for the affair. The tables were cloaked in black and sprinkled with spiders. Bats, pumpkins, black cats, skeletons and spider webs adorned the walls.
Our amazing DJ Justin kept the party going with an amazing playlist. The students were busy dancing, eating, hanging with their friends and posing for pictures. There were all sorts of costume winners ranging from scariest to the most original.
In our elementary school, led my Dr. Manno, the students paraded through the Halloween dance and around the school to show-off their wonderful costumes. They took a group picture in front of the school and then their spooky Halloween march ended at the playground. The students had a great time playing festive games outside with our parent volunteers.
Overall, Halloween was a wonderfully gourd time!
