Calais offers a fun-packed summer program designed to address the unique challenges of Special Needs Children!
Summer will be here before you know it and so will Summer Slump. That’s why it’s so important to plan ahead for your special needs children. You need to ensure that they are involved in a structured summer program that will help prevent regression!
Our Summer half-day Extended School Year (ESY) Program at the Calais School in Whippany, NJ is designed specifically to address the unique challenges experienced by children with special needs. While the curriculum is less formal than during our school year, our ESY Program is designed to contribute to the broad educational achievement of our students.
Our ESY program is for all ages: Kindergarten, Elementary School, Middle School, High School, and 12 Plus levels. Even in the summer, we are staffed by fully certified teachers and counselors from the academic school year program. Students in our Extended School Year (ESY) Program will receive IEP-mandated reading, counseling, speech, and occupational therapy that meet their academic, therapeutic, and social needs.
Here at Calais, we also believe summer is a time for kids to relax, relieve stress, have fun, explore new adventures, make new friends, and stay active. One of the best ways to give your child all these experiences is through structured recreational activities like those offered through our summer program.
Running from July 5th through August 15th, The Calais Extended School Year Program promises to be packed with fun-filled activities and project-based learning focused around this summer’s theme, “Moving Forward”. Computer learning games, art, music, dance and science ‘wizardry’ are just a few of our summer offerings. Campers can also enjoy weekly field trips to the movies, Morristown Gaming Vault, Bowling, Monster Golf and Turtleback Zoo. There’s also swim time at the local pool and so much more! Our summer concludes with a talent show showcasing the unique talents of students.
We hope you’ll join us this summer! To learn more, visit our Extended School Year Program page.
