On August 15th  2019, at The Calais School’s Extended School Year talent show and closing ceremony, it was formally announced that The Calais Foundation will be extended funding for the Learn N’ Earn stipend into the 2019-2020 school year!

For the past four years, donor funding from The Calais Foundation has provided compensation for both students and job coaches participating in The Calais School’s Learn N’ Earn program. The program, which runs during Calais’ Extended School Year (ESY), gives high school and 12 Plus students the opportunity to build a resume and develop employment readiness skills at local businesses.

The Learn N’ Earn Program is actually an extension of the school’s Structured Learning Experience (SLE) program which is offered during the regular school year. Participating students are matched with jobs that fit their career goals and personal interests. The additional funding for the 2019-2020 school year will enhance SLE program efficacy by incentivizing students, providing money management skill building, and creating a more realistic employment experience.
