The success of every Calais student is built on a team that believes in them—and our paraprofessionals are an essential part of that foundation. Our students flourish thanks to the commitment of our paraprofessionals, who lift, guide, and empower them in countless ways.
Today, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on one of our own: Lisa Galli, a dedicated member of the Calais paraprofessional team for over three years.
As a 1:1 aide for a student named Iris, Ms. Galli brings joy, calm, and encouragement to every room she enters. It’s hard to miss the duo—often found smiling side-by-side, sharing small victories, and bringing light and positivity into the school day. Their connection reflects the very best of Calais: trust, teamwork, and a belief in each student’s potential.
Anyone who has worked alongside Ms. Galli will tell you that she exemplifies all the qualities of an outstanding paraprofessional: patience, strong communication, flexibility, adaptability, and empathy. Her presence not only strengthens the student experience but also contributes to the overall success of our school community.
When asked what she enjoys most about her work, Ms. Galli shared that it’s all about being a positive influence—helping students be the best they can be by building confidence and letting them know she is always there to support them.
Her colleagues have described her as someone whose infectious positive attitude, caring nature, and willingness to go the extra mile, benefit not only her 1:1 student but also the students and staff around her.
Ms. Galli shared that one of the most challenging but rewarding parts of her role is helping students overcome difficult moments. She manages this by speaking from the heart and giving students the space to open up, allowing them to work through their challenges and move forward.
As she looks ahead, Lisa hopes to continue learning and supporting her 1:1 and other students as they work toward becoming independent young adults—an experience she describes as profoundly rewarding.
Paraprofessionals like Lisa Galli are essential to the Calais mission. They are mentors, advocates, role models, and champions for our students. Their dedication uplifts not only individual learners but our entire school community.
We’re grateful for Ms. Galli’s commitment, her compassion, and the joy she brings to Calais every day.
