A New School Year Begins at Calais!

The halls are coming back to life, classrooms are being filled, and our staff is ready to welcome our students—both those returning to Calais and those joining our community for the first time. And, of course, even some of our favorite non-human Calais friends are excited to say hello! Our therapy dogs are ready with wagging tails and unconditional support, while Snakespeare, our resident school snake, is keeping a close eye on all the activity around Calais!

I hope everyone had a fun-filled and relaxing summer. Now, it’s time to turn the page and begin another school year filled with opportunities to learn, discover, connect, and grow.

As we begin this new year, I encourage every family to find ways to be part of the Calais community. There are many opportunities to connect, whether through the Calais PTO, school events or volunteering. Your involvement makes our school community stronger and helps create the kind of supportive environment where our students can thrive.

Here are a few important dates to put on your calendar:

  • Back to School Night: September 16th
  • Pastries with the Principal: October 1st
  • Family Fun Day: October 18th

And, of course, one of the best and easiest ways to stay in the know is to follow The Calais School on Facebook and Instagram. It’s a great way to keep up with school news, upcoming events, student accomplishments, classroom highlights, therapy dog moments, and plenty of photos from daily life at Calais.

As we get ready for another school year together, I’m reminded of what makes Calais such a special place: our students, families, teachers, staff, and entire community working together with a shared commitment to helping every student exceed what is possible and reach their potential.

Here’s to a year of new experiences, meaningful connections, accomplishments big and small, and a wonderful community to experience it all with—including a few wagging tails and one very special snake!
