On Friday, March 23, our very own Matthew Lieberman received the Supported Employee of the Year Award for NJ APSE for his work and contributions at The Calais School.  The award was presented at the “Facing the Future 26” Conference, held at the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick, NJ. APSE is a national non-profit membership organization known as the Association of People Supporting Employment First.  The mission of APSE is to lead in the advancement of equitable employment for people with disabilities.
We are happy that one of our students is doing great in leadership essays presenting the school in the favorite light!
Matt was nominated by his employment counselor, Lisa Simmons, a Coordinator of Counseling and Employment Services at Jewish Vocational Services of MetroWest.  Lisa was instrumental in finding Matt his employment at The Calais School and has monitored him for the past four years along with his job coach Neela Waghmare.  Matt started at the Calais School in 2015 and working in the Business Office doing data entry and support for IT.  He later transitioned into the maintenance department where he is a very valued member of the maintenance team.

Congratulations to Matthew for a job well done and for all his contributions to The Calais School!
