As part of the Calais School’s celebration for Staff Appreciation Week, art teacher Suzy Kutcher created a wonderful Calais Virtual Art Show showcasing the work of students in classes taught by Kutcher and art teacher Donna Fisher as well as photography teachers Justin Patterson and Binal Shah and others.
The art show features masterpieces created by the school’s students and then a special section at the end highlighting artwork designed by the school’s talented teachers.
While students made unique drawings, collages, stencils and paintings, teachers sewed quilts, drew portraits of dogs and sidewalk art, created ceramic plates, T-shirts, jewelry, and French impressionist-style paintings.
Some students, for a class project, created drawings which resemble actual prehistoric cave drawings created by cavemen years ago. The show also features geometric patterns, tissue-paper flowers, posters with positive messages, fashionable drawings of Elizabethan-era women in ornate dresses, and watercolor pastel landscapes. There are colorful illuminated letter projects created by graphic design students and mixed media projects focused on using exposure, depth of field and Photoshop made by photography students. Some drawings were also created by students studying at home. There are even some of the entries by classes from the school’s winter door decorating contest.
This beautiful art show, an incredible, creative endeavor, can be enjoyed to the songs “Here Comes the Sun” and “Lean on Me.” Please take a few minutes to enjoy the Calais Visual Art Show!
