Calais families and members of Calais Staff proved this last Friday as they came together for a PTO-Sponsored Paint and Dip, our own Calais Spin on Paint and Sip.

Paint and Dip was a fun evening of learning painting techniques and creating art on canvas over yummy appetizers and loads of laughs.

Christine Orna, Calais Art Teacher, selected the sample art to paint and provided step-by-step instructions to the Paint and Dip group. This year she chose a cheerful yellow sunflower because of its bright color. Sunflowers make her feel happy, like a ray of sunshine, and she hoped this flower would have the same effect on everyone else. This special flower also reminds her of warmer weather approaching and the bright, vibrant colors of Spring! Sunflowers are especially relevant these days as they are the national flower of Ukraine and symbolize optimism, peace and longevity!

Among those in attendance were Calais Assistant Principal Theresea Fritzky, Calais upper school teacher Maryann Braen and several Calais families. The event cost $20 and went toward the art supplies as well as a small donation to the Calais PTO.

The Calais School PTO (Parent Teachers Organization) provides parents and teachers an opportunity to work together to benefit the school and most especially benefit our students. The overall purpose of The Calais School PTO is to empower families to fundraise and engage staff to create activities and support for families and students.

Calais parents don’t miss out on future events and PTO related news, join the Calais PTO today! Membership is ongoing throughout the year and the PTO is always looking for volunteers. Our next meeting (virtual) is May 12 at 6pm. For more info contact Maryann Braen maryann.braen@thecalaisschool.org  Parents, stepparents, grandparents, guardians and caregivers are all welcome!
