This month the employee spotlight is shining bright on Tara Moriarty.

Ms. Moriarty joined the Calais School family in 2022. As a Job Coach, Ms. Moriarty provides hands-on support to 12 Plus students in a variety of settings. In any given week, she can be found: supporting Calais students on campus at County College of Morris, helping student interns at job sites as they manage the demands of employment, and keeping students engaged and focused in the classroom at Calais.

Students, staff and teachers can’t say enough about Ms. Moriarty’s can-do attitude and her ability to connect with students.

According to Calais Staff Supervisor Rosie Nakashian, “Ms. Moriarty  is a constant source of inspiration and motivation to our students. She consistently exhibits a positive attitude and willingness to help others. She goes above and beyond every day!”

Calais School Psychologist Nicole Baker echoes this sentiment. “Ms. Moriarty takes time to connect with her students to help them while also challenging them to be their best selves.”

“Working at The Calais School isn’t like any other  job I have had. The staff and students make it so you don’t feel like you’re going to a “JOB” everyday. I am grateful for the acknowledgement. It warms my heart to know that I am making a difference.” explains Ms. Moriarty.

Her students too welcome her fun-loving spirit and ability to understand them. 12 Plus student Connor S describes Ms. Moriarty as “a funny cool teacher and a cool person to relate to.”

Our staff is the backbone of our school-they exemplify Calais’ mission and serve as role models for our students. We are proud to call Ms. Moriarty one of our own and we appreciate her dedication and commitment to the Calais School.

We leave you with some words of wisdom shared with us by Ms. Moriarty: “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” – Steve Jobs
