The Calais School spring musical was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Calais School drama students still had their chance to showcase their talent in the school’s virtual talent show.
Calais teacher Tracey Tlack, who directed several Calais School productions including the school’s spring musical for the past two years, said she thought it would be fun for her drama students. “This is my first time running a talent show,” Tlack said. “The reason I decided to do a talent show was to help students channel their creativity considering the play “The Little Mermaid” was postponed due to COVID-19.”
The talent show features performances by Tlack’s students and even some gifted Calais staff. The video, featured below, features vocal and instrumental performances by students and teachers, artwork by students and teachers and even a magic trick by a teacher. One student created a music video to a pop song in which she lip-synched the song, danced, ate Oreo cookies, and applied makeup.
The virtual talent show was open to all students, but most performances were done by her drama students. “I think the virtual talent show was a success,” she said. “I feel that we have the most talented and wonderful group of students at Calais and I think they should be immensely proud of themselves for their bravery in posting their talents!”
