On Friday, May 16th, the entire school enjoyed a school-wide luau. Mrs. Vitaletti and the high school class representatives had been planning this celebration for quite a while and their hard work paid off.

Robbie kicked off the day’s festive mood during morning announcements, when he explained what a luau is to our students and staff. His morning announcement message reminded everyone to say “mahalo,” a Hawaiian word meaning thanks, gratitude, esteem, regards, or respect.

Our class representatives decorated the gym beautifully with Aloha signs and tiki decorations. Mrs. Russo and her CTE science of cooking class created the day’s menu and grilled, cooked, and baked a variety of delicious food. Everyone enjoyed tastes of Hawaii, including barbecue pulled pork, Hawaiian chicken, pineapple fried rice, macaroni salad, and watermelon and cheese canapes. We were also treated to a variety of desserts, including cake, cupcakes, and coconut macaroons.

The perfect ending to the day included a dance for our high school students while our lower school students enjoyed a movie. Thank you to all the students and staff that made Friday’s luau fun for everyone.

Mahalo!
