A typical day during our Extended School Year (ESY) program is filled with laughter, fresh air, and classic summer fun. For six weeks in the summer, students enjoy a variety of engaging activities, social engagement, recreational trips, in-house entertainment and more- all in a nurturing and safe environment.

But beyond the fun, the ESY program serves another important purpose- preventing the dreaded summer slide. Transitioning from the rigors and routine of the regular school year to summer break can be particularly disruptive to a child with special needs. With the support of faculty, staff, counselors, therapists and therapy dogs, our students can maintain the academic and therapeutic progress they worked so hard to achieve during the school year. The continuation of routine mixed with therapeutic support prevents student regression while also ensuring for a more seamless transition back into the classroom with the start of the new year.

Striking a healthy balance between fun and learning is key to a successful ESY Summer. This Summer, our students ventured out into the community with weekly outings to places like the Turtle Back Zoo, The Game Vault, and Hanover Lanes. They also enjoyed fun times on campus with a water day, a field day, a talent show, and other friendly competitions.

A special thank you to our ESY staff for making this summer one for the books. Now, on to the new school year Cougars!
