For some, running a 5K is a walk in the park. For others, it’s a colossal undertaking! No matter where you are on this broad spectrum, we put together five compelling reasons you should join us on October 15th for our First Annual 5K Charity Run!
REASON #5: A 5k isn’t as long as you think. It’s actually substantially less than five miles. In fact, it’s only 3.1 miles. A 3.1-mile run is an attainable goal, even for non-runner, non-athletes.
REASON #4: It’s social! After the past two years cooped up in our homes, being out and about with others, is a breath of fresh air. You can run with friends, family, and meet new people who share your enthusiasm!
REASON #3: You’ll feel good about yourself. Physical activity will give you that little bump in your brain’s feel-good neurotransmitters also known as endorphins. Not to mention the self-satisfying feeling of completing a personal challenge!
REASON # 2: It’s an Easy Way to Move your Body. Did you know your body can burn around 100 calories per mile? Running/walking is a simple but great way to get active and move your body. It doesn’t take more than a good pair of exercise shoes to get moving. Your body and mind will thank you for the cardio, lower blood pressure and stress relief.
And now, for the number one reason, to run our First Annual 5K Charity Run… Drum roll, please….
REASON #1: Helping Others While Helping Yourself! All proceeds from the Annual 5K Charity Run will help children and young adults with special needs receive the life-changing programs and services offered at The Calais School. Learn more about the 5K and what we are running for!
