STEM is a regular part of our academic curriculum for all grades. Activities related to STEM provide students with time to focus on collaboration, creativity and communication while also offering exposure to different aspects of science and technology.

STEM program at Calais School

Our elementary school students worked together to make a teddy bear out of magnetic shapes

Recently the Elementary School’s STEM class participated in an activity circuit. Several different stations were set up around the classroom with different items or tools like Tinker Toys and Magnetic shapes.  The class was given 10 minutes to find a partner, choose a station and collaborate as a team to create something.  The STEM stations allowed the students to use their imaginations but also gave them an opportunity to tap into their social and critical thinking skills to complete specified tasks.
