I think collaboration is extremely important, not only for myself to grow as a teacher, but also to ensure my students get what they need.” -Ms. Genovese
Calais School Elementary School Teacher Jessica Genovese is a self-described “lifelong learner” who always knew she wanted to be a teacher, even as a young child.
Ms. Genovese approaches teaching as a never-ending learning process and never hesitates to initiate collaboration with colleagues when it comes to benefiting her students: “When I am stuck, I find it helpful to go to my co-workers for ideas and tools that might have worked for them in the past. I think collaboration is extremely important, not only for myself to grow as a teacher but also to ensure my students get what they need.”
What sets Ms. Genovese apart as a teacher is her innate ability to connect emotionally with her students while keeping them engaged and motivated. “I enjoy making learning fun and exciting for my students and truly feel rewarded when they meet their academic goal,” she says.
In Ms. Genovese’s classroom, she works tirelessly to help her students achieve emotional, social and academic success while also instilling a lifelong love of learning in them. She brings a special warmth, empathy and patience to her young students and is beloved by all.
“She always has a positive attitude. Her love of teaching is clearly evident in her creative and well-planned lessons. She is supportive of Calais’ academic and behavioral mission. Jess is always willing to help her colleagues.” ~ Angela Territo, Calais School Behavior Specialist.
Ms. Genovese holds undergraduate degrees in Psychology and K-6 Elementary Education and a Master’s in Special Education. She began her career in 2011 and joined The Calais School faculty in 2023.
