As we begin 2023, I would like to express how grateful I am to be Calais’ principal, leading such an amazing community of students, parents & staff. Last year was extraordinary at Calais. I am so proud of the many achievements we accomplished together…
- We celebrated our one-year anniversary of our exclusive participation in BEADS OF COURAGE®, a program providing emotional support and encouragement to our students. This year, our students will continue to be gifted beads for their courageous acts.
- We made history in the Fall as we completed The Calais 5K, the Calais School’s first charity run (raising almost $6,000 for our school). We look forward to another great turn out for the 2023 Calais 5K.
- Calais finally got to come together face-to-face for our Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon after three long years without this very special event. The entire school got together to eat a delicious feast prepared by Calais Culinary Arts teacher Chef Salaam and her students.
- Calais students showed their drive and determination to help others in need by collecting almost two tons of food donations for the Interfaith Food Pantry of Morris County. In addition, students also led toy/clothing drives and senior class fundraisers.
As we settle back to our routine, there is so much to be excited about in the coming months. In January, we are bringing back the Calais School Faculty & Staff Chili Cook-off where students and staff can sample and vote for the best chili. In February, we will celebrate Valentine’s Days with a school-wide dance. There are also more field trips and class activities in the works.
Please remember to mark your calendars for the Calais Foundation’s Annual Golf Classic on April 27th at the Crystal Springs Resort, registration is open! And be sure to attend the Calais Foundation Annual Gala on May 24th at the beautiful Park Savoy in Florham Park, NJ. Tickets go on sale later this year. Our flagship fundraising events are always a good time and help to bring awareness and funding to our school.
I look forward to working together with your children and watching them grow. Thank you for your trust, confidence and support.
Wishing you all a happy, healthy and productive 2023!
Theresa Fritzky, Calais School Principal
