This week the Calais School celebrated our annual Thanksgiving feast with students and staff. Mrs. Russo, our Culinary Arts teach, and her culinary students prepared an epic Thanksgiving feast for all to enjoy. The traditional menu included all the fan favorites from turkey, stuffing and macaroni and cheese, to green beans, cranberry sauce and two kinds of sweet potatoes.

The dessert table was popular and rightly so, considering it was covered with delicious mini Oreo cheesecakes, slices of pumpkin pie baked to perfection and warm gooey apple turnovers.

Every year the food is delicious, but the highlight of the day (aside from those mini Oreo cheesecakes) were the notes of gratitude shared by the class representatives. In the weeks prior to our Thanksgiving Feast, the students participated in “A Million Thanks,” a program created to provide heartfelt and sometimes hand-made gratitude to our troops in the form of holiday cards.  Some of these messages to our troops were read allowed for everyone to enjoy.

We have so much to be thankful for here at Calais. Wishing you a happy Thanksgiving overflowing with love and laughter!
