The Calais Animal Assisted Interventions Dogs and their handlers work with Calais students during the school year and the summer helping students learn and develop important social skills.

AAI Handler Susan Greenbaum works with her dogs and students regularly at the school along with Calais counselors, teachers and staff. During the pandemic, Ms. Greenbaum used her laptop and some toys to help work with the students virtually.

Students look forward to working with the dogs and many have said that the school’s renowned Animal Assisted Interventions program is one of their favorite parts about the school. The AAI program receives support from the Calais Foundation.
