The Calais School’s basketball team enjoyed its first win of the season in a close game against High Point Morganville. The Cougars jumped out to an early 7-1 lead and although the game was close they never trailed in the game. Our team passed the ball the best they have all year and are starting to play as a cohesive unit. The more our team can learn to work together as one unit the more we will succeed moving forward. Omar led all scorers with 14 points. Adam, Andrew, and Kal all chipped in with baskets as well.
High Point Morganville is to be commended for continuing to play hard and eventually tying the game to force overtime! When overtime began our team was tired but showed true heart and dedication in finding a way to play well. The final basket of the game came when Omar drove down the lane and passed to Kal. Kal made a lay-up and secured the victory with a final score of 26-24! It was an amazing moment and game and we are so happy that our students got to enjoy this moment because they have been working so hard this year. After a three-game home stand, we are excited to travel to Fedcap for our first away game since our opener in December!
