Serving the community is a pretty big deal here at The Calais School. Our students and staff support lots of great causes throughout the year but one of our top priorities for the past 10 years has been our participation in National Cancer Survivor Day. Every year Mrs. Vitaletti helps to coordinate efforts among faculty, staff, parents and students to prepare and donate “Survival” gift bags to cancer survivors, their loves ones, and caretakers. This year the gift bags were given out on June 3rd at the St Clare’s Hospital Cancer Care sponsored Annual Cancer Survivor Day breakfast.

The event is a time for cancer survivors and their families and care takers to get together and celebrate life. Attendees enjoyed a buffet breakfast, raffles and door prizes. Mrs. Vitaletti was able represent The Calais School and help hand out the cancer survivor bags during the event. The Staff at St. Clare’s Cancer Care, the survivors and the caretakers were extremely grateful for the gifts they have received.

We are extremely grateful to all parents/guardians and staff members who donated items to fill “Survival Bags” which contained useful and yummy items like hand sanitizer, life savers, lotion, granola bars and more! One of our Alumni hand painted all 60 bags and the students in Girls Group helped to fill them with the donated items.
