Our summer Extended School Year (ESY) program is off to a great start!

Structured Learning Experience (SLE) students began their work assignments in the community.

This week’s Super Smash Brothers tournament with Mr. Maturo helped students practice their sportsmanship and social skills. Four groups of students played while their peers cheered them on.

Artist-in-Residence Kevin Brooks has been busy with students creating large-scale artwork to be displayed in the gym. The pieces are based on photographs depicting our students’ activities and achievements. Featured artwork includes scenes from Touchdown for Success Field Day, the school prom, and our butterfly release day.

Each day staff and students recognize students doing good deeds… they are “Caught in the Act of ‘Beeing’ Excellent!” Ms. Butler and Mrs. Ferment created a bulletin board to honor the students who have been “caught.” This type of immediate reinforcement is very powerful in shaping and encouraging positive behavior.

Keep checking back to see the great work our students continue to do each day!
