The Calais Student Spotlight is a place where we celebrate the wonderful achievements of our talented students. Today we honor Rory S.

Rory was recently named a recipient of the Joe Gorga, Connections for the Future $1,000 academic scholarship from the Alliance of Special Education Schools of New Jersey and ASAH, a not-for-profit organization of special education schools and agencies. “I could not be happier for Rory,” said Calais Counselor Michelle Primiano. “Rory’s motivation toward success in his academic and extracurricular pursuits are beyond measure.  In addition to this, his positive outlook on life brightens all those who surround him. I wish him much success in his future. His Calais family will surely miss him.”

Rory said he is excited about being selected for the scholarship. “It lets me know that I have achieved something,” he said. “This is my tenth year at Calais and I am really going to miss everyone after I graduate. Calais has helped me with a lot of things including getting a job, communicating with people, preparing me for college, and much more.”

In the fall, Rory plans to attend Misericordia University in Pennsylvania where he plans to study sports management. Rory is a resident of Westfield.
