Last night the Calais community came together to start the school year off on a good foot. Parents, guardians, and family members joined Calais staff for Back to School night. After a welcome from Principal Dr. Diane Manno, families visited the classrooms and saw new and familiar faces as they spoke with teachers, counselors, and administrators.
Representatives from The Calais School’s senior class came back after a long school day to raise money for the prom. Seniors Connor, Caroline, and Omar organized a bake sale to benefit the senior prom and class activities. Calais staff, our Science of Cooking class, and senior parents all showed off their baking skills by bringing in cookies, brownies, cupcakes, and more. They also sold Calais School coffee mugs which were a hit!
Senior class advisor Mr. Femia thanked all of the bake sale participants:
Because of the community effort made my parents, staff, and students the senior class was able to raise close to $300, making this our most successful bake sale to date. The money raised will support our senior prom decorations and favors.
The senior class is currently thinking up prom theme ideas and the high school class is very excited! Thank you to EVERYONE for their help on this project. It was a true team effort.
Thank you everyone who participated in Back to School night! It is always a pleasure to spend time with the families of our students. We can’t wait to see you all for parent-teacher conferences in October!
