This event will give parents and children of teens with disabilities the tools the need to be informed, engaged, and empowered. As part of the Alliance’s Mission to serve the special education community of north and central New Jersey, there is no charge to attend this event.

The theme, Setting Your Sights on Success: A Parent’s Tool Kit for Putting Ideas into Action, has workshops to help students improve social skills and help parents advocate for their children during IEP meetings. Our friends at Hinkle, Fingles & Prior, who joined us last night at The Calais School for a workshop titled Planning for the Future: Estate Planning & Special Needs Trusts, will also present information about navigating government agencies and services.

Stay with us until 1:00pm for the Resource Fair and a chance to win a Chromebook! View the program for this event here: Alliance_2015Conference_flyerB

Formed in 2011, The Alliance of Private Special Education Schools consists of more than 30 state-approved private special education schools–including The Calais School–in Northern and Central New Jersey. Member schools are dedicated to helping parents and educators better understand and access appropriate program options in special education.

The Alliance’s goal is to see that parents, school administrators, teachers and child advocates are well informed about the special education needs of, and range of program options for, children, teens and young adults with disabilities, particularly those with more complex needs.
